Saccharomyces boulardii

Saccharomyces boulardii suggested uses include for restoration of intestinal flora, post-antibiotic diarrhea, and prevention of post-antibiotic vulvovaginal candidiasis.

Saccharomyces boulardii is available under the following different brand and other names: Florastor, Florastor Kids, S. boulardii, and Saccharomyces boulardii lyo.

Suggested Dosing

• 1 capsule/packet orally twice daily

Dosage Considerations – Should be Given as Follows:

Administration

• May swallow capsule whole, or empty contents of capsule or packet onto tongue followed by drinking 4 oz of water or juice
• May also open capsule or packet and sprinkle over semisolid food (e.g., applesauce, yogurt)
• Additionally, may open capsule or packet and dissolve contents in liquid and drink (e.g., water, juice, milk)

Common side effects of Saccharomyces boulardii include:

• Fungal infections that can spread through the bloodstream to the entire body (fungemia) (rare)

This medication contains Saccharomyces boulardii. Do not take Florastor, Florastor Kids, S. boulardii, or Saccharomyces boulardii lyo if you are allergic to Saccharomyces boulardii or any ingredients contained in this drug.

Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
