Same is a molecule formed naturally in the body and used in various conditions such as depression, osteoarthritis, intrahepatic cholestasis alcohol-related liver disease, and fibromyalgia.

What Are Side Effects Associated with Using Same?

Common side effects of Same include:

  • Digestive problems, such as nausea, diarrhea, or constipation.
  • Mild insomnia.
  • Dizziness.
  • Irritability.
  • Anxiety.
  • Sweating.

Serious side effects of Same include:

Rare side effects of Same include:

  • none 

Seek medical care or call 911 at once if you have the following serious side effects:

  • Severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, loss of coordination, feeling unsteady, very stiff muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, or tremors;
  • Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights;
  • Serious heart symptoms include fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats; fluttering in the chest; shortness of breath; sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, or passing out.

    • desvenlafaxine
    • isocarboxazid
    • linezolid
    • methylene blue
    • phenelzine
    • procarbazine
    • tranylcypromine

What Are the Dosages of Same?

 Adult dosage

Suggested Dosing

Depression

  • Oral: 400-1600 mg orally once a day
  • IM/IV: 200-400 mg/day

Osteoarthritis

  • Oral: 200 mg orally three times per day
  • IV: 400 mg/day IV

Liver Disease, Alcohol-Related

  • Oral: 1200-1600 mg orally once a day; no more than 24 months
  • IV: 200-2000 mg/day Intravenous for 15-30 days
  • IM: 200 mg/day Intramuscular for 30 days

Intrahepatic Cholestasis

  • Oral: 800 mg orally two times a day

Fibromyalgia

  • 800 mg orally once a day
