What Are Dosages of Tetanus Immune Globulin?
Adult and pediatric dosage
Powder for injection
- 250 units
Tetanus
Adult dosage
- Prophylaxis: 250 Units IM (single dose)
Active tetanus: 3000-6000 Units IM
Pediatric dosage
Prophylaxis
- Less than 7 years old: 4 Units/kg or 250 Units IM
- Above 7 years old: 250 Units IM (single dose)
Treatment
- 3000-6000 Units IM

Common side effects of Tetanus Immune Globulin include:
- mild fever,
- joint pain,
- muscle aches,
- nausea,
- tiredness, and
- pain, itching, swelling, or redness at the injection site.
Serious side effects of Tetanus Immune Globulin include:
- tingling of the hands or feet,
- hearing problems,
- trouble swallowing,
- muscle weakness, and
- seizures.
Rare side effects of Tetanus Immune Globulin include:
