When you have a heart attack, you tend to lose some percentage of heart functionality depending on how soon you seek attention. So that in itself will account for shortness of breath. I have not experienced this effect though. I am following a diet change, and 3 days a week of cardio exercise. This seems to work well in that if I get a small cut, I bleed for a bit. The biggest thing I was given with this was a Statin, never felt so terrible in my life as when I took that. After about 2 months, I quit the statin, feeling much better, diet and exercise helped lower LDL's, and increased HDL's. I have recently been switched over to this new generic as I had been taking Brilinta. I will start on this new generic this week. Hope it will be as effective as the last three and a half months on Brilinta.

My Cardiologist recommended bralinta after having a heart attack. He told me to take it for 30 days then switch to plavix. During those 30 days I have had nothing but shortness of breath especially when I was talking, and physically run down. After the 30 days was up and I switched to plavix. My energy level came back and I was able to function to a normal life again. When I was taking bralinta I was working full time by the time I came home from work I didn't have any energy to even cook a meal. Hope they take this drug off the market I don't recommended it to anyone.

Overall, I guess I'd have to say I've had a good experience with the Brilinta, however on my last set of lab work, my liver ALT and AST were elevated. Doctor explained that Brilinta is metabolized through the liver, so that may account for the higher levels, as I have had excellent lab work just prior to my MI. The status going forward is to watch/monitor, and draw labs again in 6 months unless indicated sooner.

I am 70 years old and this is the worst medicine I have ever taken. Was prescribed this medicine after suffering several TIA's. It caused SEVERE shgortness of breath along with bruising, anxiety and a very foul smelling stool. Stopped taking after 3 months and feel sooo much better. The side effects far outweigh any benefits of this medication. The side effects did not go away.

Omg the side effects were bleeding when urinating, back pain. Give a too strong dose by physician. Would not recommend Give to me as i had a stent put in my heart.

I take 7 medications that include Carvedilol,Brilenta, Aspirin, Lisinopril, Eliquis, Atorvastatin and Amiodarone. I gave a stent in one valve. I have AFFIB and my heart only pumps 25-30 %. I have an implant ICD/PACEMAKER. After being sicker than when I previously had COVIT I asked my cardiologist and my PCP why I was so sick. No one could give me a straight answer or solution. I realize I have to take my medications or the chances of a blood clot causing either a stroke or heart attack are higher to happen. So on my own I stopped one full day and then started on my own experimental schedule of what medications i take first and how long i wait until I take the next one. After countless scenarios and going thru unpredictable gaging to the point of throwing up night after night i found my sequence. At 5:30 am i start with Carvedilol and follow up with breakfast. Then 2 hours later I take Brilenta and Aspirin. 2 hours later I take Lisinopril and Eliquis. 2 hours later I take Atorvastatin and Amiodarone. And hour and a half later I take my 2nd Carvedilol. 1/2 hour later I eat lunch. 2 hours later I take my 2nd Eliquis. 2 hours later I take my 2nd Brilenta. Then I have my dinner. If I change this for any reason i am sick as before but double the side affects. I barely tolorate it now. Does everyone have to go thru this? No! I am 61 years old and close to 62. I retired early so I could focus on my health and enjoy the time i have left. But the medications make life miserable. I am not sure if all the side affects with eventually go away as i stick to my schedule. But its hard when you encounter daily life distractions or priorities. I hope this posts helps someone out there so they can live a decent life. Ruben Carrillo

I have been on this medication for 5 months after a RCA stint. Shortness of breath, terrible neck and back muscle pain. Severe ringing in ear. Very tired, no energy, Can't sleep, Bad muscle pain in legs. Very weak. Trying to get my Dr. To switch me to Plavix but not sure it would help. Brilinta definitely has a lot of nasty side affects. I've even been in ER 4 or 5 times with anxiety chest pain that felt like a heart attack. I'll be glad when I don't have to take Brilinta anymore. If you're given the option, don't take it.

I am cardiologist 63 year old male had an acs with pci of rca done successfully . Bretilium loading dose the 90Mg bid …. 12 days total…. Horrible experience, clouded mind, atypical chest pain , pre panic attack can’t breathe feeling all the time …..totally lose your emotional equilibrium while you working thru a new gear attack…. DO NOT take this medication unless you have zero side effects ( which is doubtful) Switch to plavix as soon as you can ….. side effects don’t go away! Repeat switch meds as soon as possible…..worse medication I have ever taken ! Will not prescribe my pts this med….minimal difference in the studies comparing olavix with then we meds ……intolerable …. You have been warned ! .

I have a stent placed in my LAD. I am very active and exercise a lot. I have noticed shortness of breath and dizziness when I get up and move. Feels like a head rush. When I exercise if I slowly work into a aerobic workout like cycling or running I seem to be okay. However if it is more intense like running sprints or playing tennis or more anaerobic the dizziness is really bad and I usually have to stop which is very frustrating to me. I am able to lift weights but take longer between sets to recover and prevent the dizziness from recurring. I have been on it 6 months and have 6 more to go. I do have mild bruising at time. I can’t wait to get off of it. I don’t want my stent to plug up so I’ll deal with this as the alternative could be a major heart attack. The scientific literature on the drug says being on it increases your chances substantially of your stent staying open for a lifetime with good health habits. I do personally know someone who had a bad reaction to Brilinta and ended up in the OR for emergency CABG. Usually reactions like. that happens early in taking it and are rare. My doctor is good and I just have to trust him but will stay vigilant if I notice any changes.

Prescribed 90mg tablet 2 times a day after having a stent for a total occlusion of the right artery. 4 weeks later ended up back in ED with what seemed like another heart attack. Chest pain, severe shortness of breath, dizziness and light headed. Cardiologist immediately stopped this medication and replaced with Clopidogrel. Symptoms have been easing since.

My husband had a brain bleed from Brilinta and died. The black box warning about bleeds does it help when the bleed is in your brain and you can’t see it. Also, Brilinta has no antidote for bleeding when it happens. Please, use something safer and take this drug off of the market.

My husband started taking Brilinta after having two stints. We knew it had a black box warning for internal bleeds, but our doctors encouraged us to take this over Plavix. They even gave us a coupon to reduce the high cost. My husband had a very hard time breathing on Brilinta and after 4 months on it we were going to switch to plavix. We did not get a chance. My husband had a severe brain bleed which the surgeon said was from Brilinta. It was a nightmare in ER because Brilinta does not have an antidote to stop the bleeding. My husband died from the bleed. Please don’t take this medicine. Find something safer. A bleed in your brain you cannot see until it is too late.

I had a CABG surgery an year ago, Dr. prescribed Brilinta and is still on it, no major complaints. Experienced muscle twitching and elevation of BP a couple of times. I don't know if it is a side effect of Brilinta. Leading a normal life so far and taking one day at a time. Thank God

I've had pains, super shortness of breath several on occasions constant bruising and minor cuts that bleed excessively. I've had beautiful skin all my life until now. My Skin is super dry now and easily peels back deeply with a minor rub against the door or anyting with the slightest touch and bleeds like you wouldn't believe. as of yesterday I learned of possible liver damage that wasn't there before. I'm close to 45 and I hate this drug for other reasons too but I don't want to get into. Though they Dr were all too happy to give me many 30 day sample bottles! I don't believe this is the tried-and-true drug. The next thing I'm doing is talking to the doctors next WK to try to get off of this before my next heart surgery whick I found out about yesterday as well. Plainly I don't trust it at all. I wish pharmacy wraps are just pushing on the doctors take back soon. Copious amounts of samples who cares what happens down the road to the people as we've seen with many other drugs. They just make a settlement and keep on doing it with nobody held accountable. The top of that now my condition is much worse somehow he even though I've changed everything by my diet. Now I have to have much more serious surgery and if I had listened to the first billinta pushing doctors about exercise even though I felt the pains immediately and knew something was wrong I would probably not be here I was told yesterday after another cath to check at a very reputable hospital in Cleveland which I know everybody has heard of in the world instead of one on the west coast of Florida which I will not name though happens to be in the richest city in fla....imagine that. I give brilinta and them no praises for all the mistakes they made and what I've gone through this last year and will be for another year. Nonetheless I don't recommend it and I will be off brilinta next week.

AZ notes a potential side-effect of "shortness of breath" but in realtity , it means full blown Dispnea wherein you feel as if you are suffocating, unable to breath, chest pounding and starving for air. When it hit, my first reaction was I was having another MI. Did some research through Medscape and it is a serious side effect that has been researched. AZ has attacked every study that was against Brillinta. My cardio switched me to Effient ASAP. The potential damage this drug causes far outweighs what it offers. If it effects your breathing as it did mine, get off it ASAP. I am 78 year old male

This is a horrible medicine! Stop taking it at once. After a week or two of use, it caused me to forgot what I was saying, mid sentence. Once driving to work, on my regular route, I came to a stop sign and realized I was completely lost, and went the wrong way not knowing where I was going. I had my gps on and it got me back on track. This medicine starves the brain of the nutrients the brain needs to work.
