Horrendous side effects. Headaches, shaky legs, weakness, fatigue, nausea! Never again! It’s been two weeks and I’m just waiting to feel better!

I felt the benefit in my knee immediately. Pain disappeared. Slight flushed face a few days after but no other side effects noticed.

I am 6 days after injection in both knees. I fainted 15 minutes after injections. The doctor said that was normal and sent me home. I have been dizzy and lighter headed since. Spent a night in the hospital thinking I had a stroke. My left eye is so blurry. I am so fatigued I have barely gotten out of bed. I am overwhelmed and don’t know what to do. Finally got a call back from the doctor who did the injection and he denies these are side effects and just blew me off. Do not get this injection. I am praying non-stop this dizziness and fatigue will go away. Some one needs to educate these doctors that this shot is very bad! Take it off the market

Had Kenalog 40 injected into my knee for osteoarthritis. The day following the injection my knee hurt worse than it's ever hurt and it still hurts at that post-injection level. Never again!!!

I received one injection of the knee for inflammation 3/28 and 4 days later I went to my pcp with severe calf, quad and hamstring spasms. 6 days after the shot both arms seized up and I couldn't straighten my arms. Painful spasms in the biceps and triceps of both arms. Bloodwork showed extensive inflammation scores for CRP, Thyroid and WBC/RBC. 2nd week after shot the pain was so severe I could not get in and out of bed without someone pulling my legs onto the bed. 3rd week after shot I developed nodules 'of unknown origin' running along the bicep/triceps and ultrasound showed 3 large ones and several small ones running along mid arm to shoulder. Ice,heat and tramadol do not help the pain. Ibuprofen has helped control the pain. I fear gastro problems from taking full theraputic dose every 6 hours for the past 6 weeks. Each week has new symptoms. I've had 2 sets of labs drawn, an ultrasound and have an MRI of the shoulder and neck scheduled. I cannot get dressed independently nor can I fix meals. I can't hold a glass of water when the pain is at the worst. I regularly use ice packs in the middle of the night on the neck and each arm and haven't had a good nights sleep in 4 weeks. This has been a brutal 4 weeks.

I was off balance for two weeks and had some sinus pressure. My ENT gave me a 20 mg shot. The next day I felt like my legs and arms were heavy. I then developed intense anxiety and depression. The heaviness feelings in my arms and legs eventually felt like my whole body. My back, upper neck. It feels like my entire nervous system was attacked. I feel like the doctors don't believe this is possible that a drug could cause so much havoc. But all of my blood tests, MRI, cat scan and EKG are normal. So what else caused this? I was nervous the moment the doctor put the needle in me. I'm not trying to scare anyone but I don't wish this on anyone. It's horrible. Please consider the risks.

I was given this 20mg of kenacort to ease bursitis pain in the foot. Specifically between the 3rd and 4th MTP joint. Getting this injection was by the worst decision of my life. Within 3 months the muscles and and soft tissue in my foot began to atrophy and I found it very difficult to walk. After 3 months severe insomnia and depression kicked in and my foot developed further deformities because the structure of the foot foot was so weakened eg ligament tears. I've spent thousands trying to solve this but nothing works. I have gone from being in the gym 5 days a week to not being able to walk for longer than 20 mins. I struggle to get out of bed now because of severe depression and my entire social life has collapsed. I find it difficult to work now too. Do not go anywhere near this stuff if you have a choice. I wasn't properly informed of the risks prior to taking this. My life is pretty much ruined as a result but I'm trying to make the best of what I can still do. Trying to stay positive where I can but it's very hard.

Received injections in my wrist and knee and my pain only got worse every day. Fast forward a month and now I can't get out of bed without help due to severe body pain (arms neck back hips) and wrist is now in severe pain. The slightest amount of pressure causes sharp shooting pain. Can barely use hand to so anything. Awaiting 2 MRI for wrist. Have seen 5 different drs including ER dr and have received 4 dif diagnoses. My PCP dr is only dr who isn't saying this drug didn't do this. But I KNOW IT DID. I'm just the less than 1% who doesn't seem to count to drs as this drug being what hurt me. This is not a coincidence a couple months ago I was painting my house able to do whatever I wanted. Now I can't pick anything off the floor or reach my feet without severe hip pain. I'm in agony. DONT LET DRS FOOL YOU THAT THIS DRUG IS HARMLESS. it hurt me severely and drs won't even acknowledge its what hurt me. I went from an active 53 year old who excercised daily went to gy. Did pilates and yoga weekly. Now I cant even get out of bed without help can't excercise at all and being labeled with 4 dif diagnoses and being ignored that THIS DRUG DID THIS TO ME. DONT DO IT!!!! I NOW FEEL 93yrs old.

5 of 7 injections provided complete relief of shoulder pain and limited range of motion; at the 3rd injection I noticed a brief instance of elevated HR which I ignored. The 5th injection (2 years later) created a delayed reaction of elevated HR above 140 and high BP which required ER care; nobody asked about injections and attributed it to anxiety or hormones, one month later my cycles increased to two per month for 3 months. I had not made the connection until the 7th injection when within 4 hours my HR spiked at rest to over 140 and this lasted over 3 days resulting in a 4lb weight loss. I then figured out it was the injection and reading the other side effects noted realize the changes in my cycle may also be entirely attributable. VERY scary and not worth the risk, I should have researched this drug, been informed of side effects and will be seeking alternatives. If you are a woman, perimenopausal and/or have anxiety - don't take this unless you're confident you can manage this type of impact to your body and have an especially responsive Provider.

Recieved a Kenalog injection in my right buttock to treat an allergic over-reaction to poison ivy. Injection site hurt a LOT for a week afterwards, lots of bruising around the injection site. 4 months later an divot formed in my right buttock, about the size of a baseball. My fat and muscle in that area continue to atrophy and the divot continues to get worse. This is a KNOWN SIDE EFFECT that I was not informed about! It is not uncommon and can be permanent. Make sure you are aware of all the possible outcomes before you agree to put this medication in your body.

I have bi lateral frozen shoulders, the pain during the day and trying to sleep at night was insufferable and continuous. I decided after some time and talking around to people with similar problems, I would have steroid injections in bothe shoulders. It's painful having the injections and I felt pretty good without a day or so, the shoulders eased up and I was thinking, wow, this is great I can actually sleep comfortably for the first time in 6 months. The good bit over with above, within a week of having these injections my left leg varicose veins swelled through out the leg, I was in alot of discomfort, eventually having been put on very strong anti inflammatories that made me feel worse, I had a scan on the leg that revealed clots. In addition to the above, I've had the following follow on problems since having the injections:- Palpations, not sleeping, night twitching beyond belief for hours and hours at time, terrible sleep deprivation because of it, felt almost faint at times, dizzy, unsteady on my feet , cannot over do anything, shorted days with anything I do I feel shattered all the time. Luckily my employer has been sympathetic, I was in between contract for a while and then signed off sick. Since having the injections in the summer, I've not worked, I'm five months just over and counting as to when I may feel normal. I've tried everything from seeing gps to hospital appointments, to changing my daily routine and eating habits, exercises to ease anything. I've not felt consistency and well for so long, I cannot remember the last time I felt well. If you do not have to have these Kenalog based injections, do not have them, I felt dreadful since. My next step, I do not know, I've felt so dreadful every day I do not know what to do. I am considering going back to the person who administered the injection as I was not made aware of any of these side effects at all.

Received injection on August 6th 2023, it was for SI joint pain in lower back pain supposedly, I had gotten very bad side effects right away, similar to what I've already read but I'll state quickly, I've had feverish sweating, horrible insomnia for days, worsened depression and mood swings, it's been almost 2 months at the beginning of October, how long until the side effects are expected to subside because my doctor repeatedly has told me 3 weeks but I am far past 3 weeks and having issues with the side effects ongoing, I would never consider this and I'm offended that I was lied to about the details of this injection, beware kenalog

35 yr old F, I have been getting this injection since 2019 (4 years). I have a torn hip labrum and chronic bi-lateral hip bursitis, when injected into the hip joint, this lasted about a year each time. It didn’t last more than a few weeks when injected into to bursa sacs. First injections were 7/2019, lasted 5 months, then 1/2020, lasted over a year, then July 2021 lasted long enough for my hip to rehabilitate enough To not need another (torn labrum doesn’t heal but your supporting muscles/tendons/ligaments strengthen to compensate). Each shot disrupted my menstrual cycle. I would get my period 4-7 days after receiving the injection regardless of how recently I had just had it or if I currently had it. I also gained 10-15 lbs with each injection. Regardless, it allowed me to walk so I would have rated it 5 stars then. May 2022, I didn’t need it for my hip anymore, but I now needed it for my back. I figured I would try it since it helped my h up so much. I have a herniated L5-S1, I received bilateral epidural injections. It didn’t help AT ALL. I ended up in the ER a week later bc I couldn’t sit up/stand/walk straight. Even after that visit it never kicked in or worked. At this point I had gained 34 lbs from the shots, and this one made me gain another 15. So a total of 50 lbs in 3 years!!!! May 2023, I had weight loss surgery in January to get the steroid weight off so I had lost the 50 lbs. I decided to try again despite the potential weight regain bc I had to do physical Field work research. This time Dr. Injected into bilateral sacroiliac joint. It was great for 2 weeks! I noticed that it also cleared up my chin acne, hand eczema and scalp psoriasis this time. Like every other time I got my menses again, but this time I bled for 2 entire months!!!! It also halted my weight loss from the gastric sleeve surgery. My appetite is huge again from the steroid, but luckily I have WLS tools now to deal with it. Given that the pain relief only lasted 2 weeks, I won’t be getting another shot in my back bc it doesn’t last long enough to be worth the side effects.

My Dr. gave me an injection of Kenalog 40 for the bursitis pain I was having in my right hip following hip replacement surgery. The bursitis is due to a difference in leg length that resulted from surgery. It worked wonders!!!!!!!

It is amazing for seasonal allergies. I am sorry some have an adverse reaction. I assume that has much to do with other immune problems or health issues. I am healthy and only have issues with seasonal allergies that can cause breathing problems. This injection has only helped me.

Wow, at 73 years of age I have bone on bone in my shoulders. It's painful and my Orthopedic doctor gave me a shot of this stuff. OMG I've been having the strangest effects from it. I've read some of these experiences and see I'm not the only one to suffer ill effects from something the medical profession considers safe enough to give to patients!!! I spent 4 hours last night telling myself to breath because I thought I wasn't breathing and that's just one of the listed things that has happened to me. I feel for everyone who has been subjected to this drug and I for one won't be getting another shot of it!!! I just hope the horrible stomach problems, one among the long list of other side effects I'm having, goes away!!

I was given this by my doctor with injections in my neck which had caused consistent pain for several months. Six months later this was diagnosed by a osteopath as neural foraminal stenosis. I do not exaggerate when I say this drug almost killed me. I was not told that the drug should not be given to patients with chronic heart failure - see Webmd list of who should not be given this drug. My PCP told me it should kick in about 3 days later. It did but not as expected. I could not breathe and had to call an ambulance. In the ER they determined that my heart was in bad shape with a reduced ejection fraction and also PVCs and that I had liquid in my lungs which they initially diagnosed as pneumonia but later retracted. They did not know that i had been injected with Kenalog. After one night they discharged me with antibiotics but I was back in hospital the next day coughing up blood. IF YOU HAVE HEART FAILURE DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG.

I was given 6 shots in 12 days from a pain mgt Dr. Back in 2015 and it destroyed my life. The novel that I would/could and may write about the 57 doctor visits that followed. This weaken for my hamstring and gluts at the injection site and my hamstring tore 9cm. The tear sounded like someone broke a baseball bat over me. I was manic, hade a weekend of psychosis days weeks and months and years of residual issues. Anxiety, neuropathy, depression, digestive problems, I mean if you read the symptoms of the other reviews and add them all up that’s what I went through. I am a miracle cause I didn’t sleep for nearly 21 days after my final series of shots which was administered directly into my si joint. This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DRUG. I thank GOD every day for being with me when the demon that invaded my mind was suggesting suicide as my solution. Don’t take the chance. Don’t ever get more than 1 shot in a very spaced out time and be ?? aware of the potential side affects if you must take this.

HORRIFIC. SIJ injection/bilateral: Within one hour-hour of the injection I had: feet burning, leg burning, hand and body burning, blurred vision, headache, eye aches, nausea, dizziness. I immediately developed fatigue, body sensitivity, cognitive issues, burning pelvis, body itching, profuse sweating day and night, and paradoxical insomnia. My doctor denied any connection whatsoever to the injection. I ended up in the. ER. It has been 9 weeks and my symptoms are worsening.
