Common side effects of Ipratropium Intranasal include:
- Headache,
- Dry nose,
- Dry mouth or throat,
- Minor nosebleed,
- Sore throat,
- Blurred vision, and
- Unusual or unpleasant taste in the mouth
Serious side effects of Ipratropium Intranasal include:
- Blurred vision,
- Tunnel vision,
- Eye pay,
- Seeing halos around lights,
- Nosebleeds,
- Severe dry nose, and
- Painful or difficult urination
Rare side effects of Ipratropium Intranasal include:
- None
Seek medical care or call 911 at once if you have the following serious side effects:
- Severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, loss of coordination, feeling unsteady, very stiff muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, or tremors;
- Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights;
- Serious heart symptoms include fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats; fluttering in the chest; shortness of breath; sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, or passing out.

What Are the Dosages of ipratropium Intranasal?
Adult and pediatric dosage
Nasal spray
- 0.03%
- 0.06%
Perennial Allergic/Nonallergic Rhinitis
Adult dosage
- Nasal spray (0.03%): 2 sprays (21 mcg/spray) per nostril every 8-12 hours; not to exceed 168-252 mcg/day.
- Seasonal allergic rhinitis: 2 sprays (0.06%) per nostril every 6 hours.
Pediatric dosage
- Below 6 years: Safety & efficacy not established.
- Above 6 years: 2 sprays (0.03%) per nostril every 8-12 hours.
Symptomatic relief of rhinorrhoea (Common Cold)
Adult dosage
- Nasal spray (0.06%): 2 sprays (0.42 mcg/spray) per nostril every 6 hours; no to exceed 672 mcg/day.
Pediatric dosage
- Below 5 years: Safety & efficacy not established.
- 5-12 years: 2 sprays (0.06%) in each nostril every 8 hours
- Above 12 years: 2 sprays (0.06%) in each nostril every 6-8 hours
Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis

Cautions
- Use caution in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, hepatic impairment, renal impairment, and BPH or bladder neck obstruction.
- Contact with the eye can cause burning.
- May cause dizziness, accommodation disorder, mydriasis, and blurred vision; caution patients about performing tasks requiring mental alertness, including operating heavy machinery.
- Immediate hypersensitivity reactions reported; discontinue use immediately if it occurs.
