What Is Niferex Capsules?

Niferex Capsules (Ferrochel and polysaccharide iron complex) is a form of the mineral iron used as a dietary supplement, and to prevent and to treat iron deficiencies and iron deficiency anemia.

What Are Side Effects of Niferex Capsules?

Common side effects of Niferex Capsules include:

  • stomach upset
  • nausea or vomiting
  • constipation
  • diarrhea
  • black or darker than normal appearing stools, or
  • temporary staining of the teeth

Warnings for Niferex Capsules

WARNING: Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6. Keep this product out of reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or poison control center immediately.

Iron is best absorbed on an empty stomach; however, occasional gastrointestinal discomfort (such as nausea) may be minimized by taking with meals. Iron-containing medication may occasionally cause black stools, constipation, or diarrhea, which is usually transient and self-limiting.

If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use.

NOTICE: This product is supplied in tamper-evident blisters. Do not use if outer foil is torn or missing.
