What Are the Side Effects Associated with Using Propylhexedrine?
Common side effects of Propylhexedrine include:
- Rapid heart rate,
- Agitation,
- High blood pressure,
- Chest pain, tremors,
- Hallucinations,
- Delusions,
- Confusion,
- Nausea, and vomiting.
Serious side effects of Propylhexedrine include:
- Severe anxiety or agitation,
- confusion,
- hallucinations,
- paranoia.
- Rapid heartbeat or abnormal heart rhythm.
- Chest pain or tightness.
Rare side effects of Propylhexedrine include:
- none
Seek medical care or call 911 at once if you have the following serious side effects:
- Severe headache, confusion, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, trouble walking, loss of coordination, feeling unsteady, very stiff muscles, high fever, profuse sweating, or tremors;
- Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or swelling, or seeing halos around lights;
- Serious heart symptoms include fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeats; fluttering in the chest; shortness of breath; sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, or passing out.

What Are the Dosages of Propylhexedrine?
Adult and pediatric dosage
Intranasal inhaler
- 250 mg/actuation
Nasal Congestion
Adult dosage
- 1-2 inhalations per nostril every 2 hours or as needed; not to exceed 3 days.
Pediatric dosage
- Below 6 years: Not recommended.
- Above 6 years: 1-2 inhalations per nostril every 2 hours as needed; not to exceed 3 days.
